Attendance and Welfare Officer
My name is Christine Townsend and I am the Attendance and Welfare Officer for the Learn@ Multi-Academy Trust. The Academy your child attends is part of Learn@ MAT.
As you will be aware the government lifted lockdown for all schools across England from March 8th 2021 meaning that schools are now fully open welcoming students back on-site. The legal requirement for parents/carers to send their children to school was also re-instated on March 8th.
The Prime Minister has been very clear that children and young people being back at school is a national priority as we recover from this public health crisis and has indicated that there will be no more period of national closures in the manner experienced from early January to March 8th.
Support for schools to try to keep the virus out of the classroom has increased and this will help parents, children and staff to feel more confident about returning. All academies within Learn@ MAT are taking advantage of the additional measures provided by our public health colleagues.
As the Attendance and Welfare Officer it is my role to support students, parents, carers and our staff across the academies to maximise school attendance. I recognise that the past year has been like no other across the globe and that our students are as keen to return to some sort of normality as the rest of us!
As students return to school there will be a period of readjustment and a need to settle into the routine of attending school once more. All our staff are mindful of the need to support the students as they return and that some might need support and understanding as they reengage with face-to-face learning.
If you have any concerns relating to your child returning to school and attending every day then I am here to support, please see my contact details below.
My usual working days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
