It is a great privilege to introduce myself as the Chief Executive Officer of this unique and innovative Multi-Academy Trust. Learn@ MAT currently consists of 4 specialist Academies within Bristol and Wiltshire and a new Specialist Free School due to open in September 2019.
Knowle DGE (day school provision with ‘short-break’ opportunities) and Notton House (residential school) are Academies, which cater for young people aged from 5-19years with either Social, Emotional Mental Health needs or Speech, Language and Communication Needs (ASC). They offer a wide range of curriculum and vocational learning opportunities within small group and individually tailored programmes. We have outstanding facilities and resources across these Academies that ensure the young people we work with have the best possible opportunities to succeed in all areas of learning. Whilst most young people we work with at these Academies have a full ‘Education, Health, Care Plan’ we are able to offer some ‘Assessment Places’ with the agreement of the commissioning Local Authority.
St Matthias (Key Stage 3 and 4) and Lansdown Park (Key Stage 2 and 3) are alternative providers working closely with mainstream schools in Central/East and South Bristol to both prevent exclusions and support young people who have been excluded or at risk of exclusion. We aim to provide challenging 12-week programmes, which prepare and support a young person’s successful return to mainstream, or an extended placement, which includes a fuller assessment of their needs and potential transfer to a specialist education setting.
There is a relentless drive across the whole of Learn@ MAT to achieve the highest standards with a deep commitment to meeting the needs of all learners.
I recognise that we are all different and life is not always equal and fair; many young people have special needs and traumatic early life experiences, which often result in their early educational experiences being challenging and negative. Learn@ MAT and its Academies aim to support these children and help them recognise their own worth, raise their self-esteem and re-engage them in successful learning within a wide, relevant and rich curriculum. We have an extensive team of experienced and specialist staff who deliver rewarding learning opportunities and access to a variety of nurturing, social, and emotional support approaches.
Whether your child has SEMH, ADHD, ODD or SLCN we can offer day, short-break and residential education where we are ‘All Different, All Equal and All Achieving Together’.
Please take the time to look at all our Academies in more detail through the links provided and contact them directly if you wish to arrange a visit.
Whether you are on the difficult journey of choosing a new school for your child or you are interested in our work and joining our friendly and dedicated team, please do not hesitate to call me on 0117 307 8030 ext 2221. We are here to help you give your child a positive future.
